As Sophia Loren once said ... Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.
Eye makeup can change your appearance and give you a totally different look and feel for the day. There are no hard and fast rules for applying eye makeup but here are some tips you may find helpful.
Eyeshadow
Use a maximum of three colours when applying eyeshadow. A light colour across your eyelid close to the brow bone, a medium colour across and below your eyelid, with the darker colour close to the eye lashes.
Wherever possible try to avoid tugging or pulling your eyelids, this will prevent the skin from possibly stretching over time.
Eyeliner
Before applying any eyeliner make sure that it will compliment the eyeshadow you are wearing and choose an appropriate colour to enhance your eyes.
On the upper eyelid start lining the eyes from the inner corner working towards the outer corner.
For the bottom lid start with the outer corner moving towards the middle of your eye. You will now be able to smudge the eyeliner at the bottom.
If you wish you can use an eye shadow as the eye liner by carefully using a brush dipped in dark eyeshadow, this is a great way to create that smokey eyed look.
Mascara
To make those lashes really stand out why not mix your mascara. A coat of lengthening mascara followed by a thickening mascara is a combination used by many makeup artists.
To prevent clumping of your mascara if you apply 2 coats make sure the second coat is applied before the first coat dries. If you are only applying one coat closing your eyes, placing the wand on top of your lashes and pulling it gently through them will help prevent clogging.
Your mascara will last longer if you avoid pumping the wand in and out of it, as this introduces air into the tube.
